DIY Tech News & Sites...

I was talking with Rich Roffman during our weekly visit on his radio show. We discussed how home office workers often have to be their own "experts" or go-to gurus in a variety of areas.

From business development and accounting, to selecting the right home office furniture and creating the right design, it all falls to the home officer (even teleworkers, or corporate employees empowered by their bosses to work from home often have to handle details otherwise left to associates back in the corporate hive).

IT, information technology and general computing also fall into that category. Not just "What laptop should I buy?" or "What grade of broadband service is worth the money and right for my business?"-type questions. But even knowing the reasons the latest iPhone would be a good investment, or how a Dell PC stacks up against an HP or Lenovo, for example.

Steve Bass of ComputerWorld. A great round-up of ideas to improve your computing. He's got great stuff on home office computing, too.
David Pogue with the NYT or at his own site, DavidPogue.com. Fun, very informative and hands-on, irreverant, very insightful. Watch his videos, too. Well done.
Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal. If David P is fun and irreverant, Mr. Mossberg is down-and-dirty in his reviews. Rife with attitude and full of insights, his stuff is worth a weekly visit.
